Karen Healey Stables Competes at the Second Weeks of the Oaks Blenheim, Pebble Beach, and Gold Coast Spring Horse Shows

San Juan Capistrano, CA - April 9, 2009
The riders of Karen Healey Stables stayed busy this past week as they had their choice of three excellent California horse shows at which to compete. Riders showed at the Oaks Blenheim Spring Classic II in San Juan Capistrano, the Pebble Beach Spring Horse Shows Too in Pebble Beach, and the Gold Coast horse show series at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center in Burbank, CA.

Addy Graves showed during the second week of competition for the Gold Coast horse show series at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center this week, winning three blue ribbons. Graves placed first in the PCHA Horsemanship class, first in the Onondarka Medal, and first in the THIS National Children's Medal. Graves also placed third in the LAHJA/LA Saddlery Junior Medal class.

Karen Healey flew up to Pebble Beach on Friday morning to train her student Samantha Harrison of La Canada, CA. Harrison showed her mare Santika at the Pebble Beach Equestrian Center and placed first in the $3,500 Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic. Harrison also competed for a spot on the B team in the North American Junior Young Rider Trials.

By Sunday afternoon Healey was back in San Juan Capistrano at the Oaks Blenheim Spring Classic II to train her many other students who all did very well this week. Alex Block showed Tammy Chipko's horse All That and was reserve champion of the Large Junior Hunter 16 -17 division. The pair placed first, second, third, and third in the division's individual classes to take home the reserve championship honors.

Holly Dickinson showed HMG Farm's Beckham in the equitation classes this week and did very well. Dickinson placed first overall in the WIHS Equitation Classic after a first place finish in the jumper phase, and she also placed first over fences in the Equitation 15-17. Other top finishes for Dickinson this week included a second place in the ASPCA Maclay Horsemanship Medal, second in the CPHA Medal, and third in the Pessoa/USEF Hunter Seat Medal.

Kylee Arbuckle showed a brand new horse for Karen Healey Stables this week. Arbuckle rode Lord Corda G in the horse's first show since arriving from Europe just one week ago. Riding Lord Corda G, Arbuckle placed first in the Equitation 15-17 flat class, was third in the USEF Show Jumping Talent Search, and was first in the hunter phase of the WIHS Equitation Classic. Arbuckle also placed fourth in both the WCE and Pessoa/USEF Hunter Seat Medal classes.

Kristi Siam rode her horse Krosus to another championship win this week. Siam and Krosus won the Low Amateur-Owner Hunter championship after placing three firsts and two fourths in the division's individual classes. Siam also placed second in the Ariat National Adult Medal, third in the Foxfield Medal, and fourth in the USEF Adult Medal during this week's competition.

Hannah Selleck is another of Karen Healey's talented young riders to do well showing at the Oaks this week. Selleck placed first in the CPHA Adult Medal with her horse Bella, and showed in the High Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumpers, placing first with Tosca and third with Bauer. Selleck also showed in the $5,000 High Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic and placed second in the class with Tosca and third with Bauer.

Carol Bird showed W.C. Swing in the jumpers this week. Bird and W.C. Swing placed seventh in the 1.30m Jumper Classic and were fourth in the Low Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic.

Other top finishers in the jumpers this week included Mackensie Baker and Kasey Ament. Mackensie Baker placed second in the Modified Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic with Chaucer. Kasey Ament showed Thea Disney's horse Kona for Mackensie Baker this week and placed second in the 1.30m. Ament also rode Roma-M and Zico 13 for Fred Bauer and placed fourth and fifth in the 1.35m.

Karen Healey Stables will compete next at the Blenheim Equisports Spring III Horse Show and the Pickwick Spring Show on April 7-12.
